MESOP WATCH NEW:Iraqi Protesters Threaten Continued Demonstrations over Election Results

ERBIL Bas News 4-11-2021-Demonstrations against the results of Iraqi parliamentary elections are ongoing in Iraq, with the protesters saying that they will remain in the streets unless their demands are met.

The so-called Preparatory Committee for Demonstrations rejecting the election results threatened to step up activities, demanding a manual recount of the ballots from all stations across the country, according to Shafaq News.

Most of the pro-Iran Shia parties have rejected the results of the general elections, claiming the votes were rigged.

The Committee for the demonstrations further said in a statement that the Iraqi Independent High Electoral Commission is dealing “suspiciously with appeals … we call on the Supreme Judicial Council and the Federal Court to intervene to save the country from the serious situation that this illegible commission has created.”

It also called on, “our supporters in all Iraqi governorates to organize the last peaceful demonstrations under the slogan “the last chance Friday”, before we start stepping up the protests against the oppression we are subjected to, to recover our stolen votes.”
