MESOP MIDEAST : BIG BLOW CONTRA IRAN ! – Sadr Signals of New Measures to End Neighbor’s Interferences in Iraq’s Affairs

25-10-2021 ERBIL BAS NEWS — Iraqi Shia cleric and the leader of Sadrist Movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, once again warned against any interferences in his country’s internal affairs, saying the next government will take the necessary measures to address the issue.

In a statement published on his official Twitter account on Monday, Sadr said negotiations will begin with the neighboring countries to end the interferences in the security and political affairs of Iraq.

“We seek to develop economic, trade and diplomatic relations with the neighboring countries. However, we will firmly reject any form of meddling,” reads the statement.

He also revealed that tight measures will be taken at the airports and border crossings to prevent any action that could “violate the sovereignty of Iraq.”

The statement comes a day after Sadr issued a separate statement to warn the neighbors against any attempt to influence the results of the recent parliamentary elections and other internal affairs of Iraq.

Sadr, whose faction has won 73 seats at the next parliament of Iraq, is expected to lead the formation of the new government.

Among the neighbors of Iraq, Iran is known for the greatest military and political influence in Iraq through the Shia militias of Hashd al-Shaabi.

Supporters of Hashd al-Shaabi took to the streets last week to protest the election results. The Iran-backed militias accused the electoral commission of fraud to prevent the victory of the political factions linked to Iran.
