MESOP MIDEAST WATCH : Turkish Jets, Islamist Militias Bombard Syrian Kurdish Areas

24 Oct 2021 – ERBIL — Turkish jets and the Ankara-backed Islamist militias on Sunday bombarded different areas in the Syrian Kurdistan, commonly known as Rojava.

According to the information obtained by BasNews from local sources, the Islamist militias used artillery to bombard Tel Shanan and Dardadara villages near Tel Tamar, in Hassaka province.

The two villages are under the control of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), an armed group supported by the US-led Global Coalition to combat the Islamic State (IS).

Possible casualties and material damage were not known immediately.

Earlier the day, media reports said Turkish fighter jets had targeted a vehicle near Kobani, northeast of Syria, killing three people and wounding four others.

The targeted individuals were said to be members of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), the Kurdish group that is in armed conflict with Turkey for decades.
