Syrian Kurdish National Council Condemns “Kidnapping” of KDP-S Members by PYD
Basnews English 2021/07/19 – ERBIL — The Syrian Kurdish National Council (ENKS) on Monday condemned what it called “kidnapping” of Kurdistan Democratic Party-Syria (KDP-S) members by the Democratic Union Party (PYD) in Rojava.
The Council said several senior members of the KDP-S in Qamishlo and Kobani were abducted by the security forces affiliated with the PYD on July 17, and their whereabouts remains unknown.
It described the detention of the KDP-S members as “a move that could undermine the Kurdish-Kurdish dialogue” for a better solution to the political hardship in the Syrian Kurdistan.
“We call on the human rights organizations, the SDF [Syrian Democratic Forces], and the United States to push for an end to the violations by the PYD, and mediate to free the detainees,” reads the statement by ENKS.
