70 % of Turkish trade with Iraq in Kurdistan region / KURDS CLOSE WITH TURKEY
29.01.2014 – Hemin Salih – BasNews, Erbil – The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has said that %70 of Turkish trade with Iraq occurs in the Kurdistan region.
Dler Tariq, the spokesperson of KRG’s Finance Ministry told BasNews that the Turkish Consulate in Erbil has called on them [Finance Ministry] to help strengthen relations. “They want to improve collaboration, because currently %70 of Turkish trade with Iraqi is in the Kurdistan region,” Tariq said.
Tariq also revealed that Kurdistan hosts the largest number of Turkish trade companies in the region, with more than 1300 Turkish companies working in Kurdistan in all sectors.
In recent years, Turkish-Kurdish relations have improved enormously, especially economic relations and in the energy sector, with Kurdish oil now being exported to Turkey through independent oil pipelines.
