TURKEY’S POLITICAL & MILITARY LEADERS TALK ABOUT INTERVENTION IN WEST KURDISTAN

 MESOP – Kurdpress – 20.7.2013 – Turkey President Abdullah Gul, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and the Chief of General Staff Necdet Ozel discussed on Thursday the northern Syria developments and the Kurds seizing of Sari Kani, a city in northern Syria, Milliyet daily said.

The meeting, at the Cankaya presidential palace in Ankara, was behind closed doors and lasted for more than 2 hours. The three officials also discussed settlement process with Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) which issued “find warning” on Friday to Turkish government.

No report of the meeting has been released, but 4 Turkey jets were seen flying over Sari Kani after the meeting. Turkey General Staff confirmed on Thursday that People’s Defense Units (YPG), the armed branch of Democratic Union Party (PYD), has captured Sari Kani. The report hit Turkey media headlines with reports and articles warning of the establishment of a Kurdish autonomous region in Syria.

The Turkish government, too, issued a warning that it will never tolerate any Kurdish administration in northern Syria.PYD announced yesterday that the Kurds are seeking an autonomous region in Syria not an independent state.
