MESOP NEWS FLASH : Syria probably used chemical arms on a small scale: US
ABU DHABI – Agence France-Presse – 26.4.2013 – Syrian regime forces have probably used chemical weapons on a small scale, US Defence Secretary Chuck Hagel told reporters in the United Arab Emirates on Thursday, citing US intelligence agencies.
Hagel said the White House had sent a letter to several members of Congress saying “the US intelligence community assesses with some degree of varying confidence that the Syrian regime has used chemical weapons on a small scale.” The United States has already warned that any use or transfer of chemical weapons in Syria would cross a “red line” and could trigger military action.
