WEST KURDISTAN / MESOP : 50 killed in clashes between ISIS, Kurdish forces
7-5-2014 – Kurdpress – At least 11 Kurdish members of the Syrian pro-Kurdish People Defense Units (YPG) and 39 forces of the extremists Islamic State of Iraq and Sham (ISIS) were killed in bilateral clashes in Kobani, a Kurdish region in north of Syria, Hawar News said in a report.
PYD, the umbrella party of the YPG, stated 11 Kurdish forces have been killed in Sunday clashes but local officials stated some 25 to 30 Kurdish forces have been killed in the battles. Meanwhile pro-PYD media stated Kurdish forces have been able to clear out a region near Kobani from extremist forces in a joint operation with a group affiliated with the Free Syria Army (FSA), opposition to Syria President Bashar al-Assad.
