US warns Barzani over northern Syria intervention
14.8.2013 – Kurdpress – The US Department of State warned Kurdistan Region President Massoud Barzani over intervening in Syria Kurdish regions as the move fuels Syria’s war flames. Addressing a press conference, the Spokesman for US Department of State, Marie Harf asked Barzani to reconsider his pledge for intervening in northern Syria if it is proved the al-Qaeda affiliated groups have committed genocide against the Kurds in the country.
In a Sunday statement released an its website, Barzani vowed to apply all power and intervene in Syria Kurdish regions if documents will prove the Islamic extremist groups have conducted mass killing in the regions. “Violence in Syria has negatively influenced Iraq security status as suicide bombings and attacks have risen in the country,” the US official said. Barzani asked the upcoming Kurdish National Congress to send a delegation to Syria northern Kurdish regions to investigate the possibility of a mass killing in the regions by al-Qaeda-linked groups.
