U.S. and Syrian air forces strike ISIS locations in Raqqa

January 22, 2015 – ARA News – Deir ez-Zor, Syria – On Wednesday, three militant fighters of the Islamic State group (IS/ISIS) were killed during an aerial bombardment by pro-regime warplanes in the town of Suluk in the countryside of Raqqa, in northeastern Syria, locals reported. Speaking to ARA News in Raqqa, civil rights activist Ziad Muhaisin said that the pro-Assad warplanes attacked an IS-held checkpoint with missiles near the town’s junction, killing at least three IS extremists. Also on Wednesday, the U.S.-led international coalition bombed the IS-held village of Ain Issa and the al-Sihil area in the countryside of Raqqa.

No casualties were reported.

In Deir ez-Zor, in eastern Syria, civil rights activist Fayez Abdulaziz told ARA News that fierce clashes broke out between the IS radicals and the pro-regime forces in the town of Hawijah Sekr, coinciding with artillery shelling by the pro-regime military forces against the group’s military units. Abdulaziz also pointed out that the pro-Assad warplanes targeted the city of Muhasan in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, causing substantial damage. The IS-regime clashes in the vicinity of the military airport of Deir ez-Zor entered the second month, as dozens of casualties were reported on both sides. Reporting by: Adam Saleh – Source: ARA News
