Opposition unable to control Syria after Assad: General Dempsey

The US Chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff General Martin Dempsey stated the Syria oppositions are unable to control the country even if President Bashar al-Assad falls from power, New Republic web site said in a report.

“The Syrian oppositions are not in a condition to be able to control the country even after Assad. We should accept that the Syrian oppositions lack enough ability and will to defend Syrian people against big threats of extremist groups and terrorists and hunger and terror as well as instability will continue in the country,” he said.

How will the country be controlled after Assad and all his men quit power?, he asked, the main question after unseating Assad is the way to fight extremist and terrorist groups. A member of Syria opposition coalition Salih Darwish told Kurdpress in an exclusive interview about the coalition’s recent visit to the US that US President Barack Obama has clearly expressed his fear of the extremist groups in Syria.
