SOUTH KURDISTAN (IRAQ) Slemani Municipality Workers Ask Political Parties for Cooperation
MESOP 27.3.2014 – Aras Ahmed Mhamad – -SLEMANI/ Kurdistan region, KNNC- Service workers of the Slemani Municipality held a rally asking the political parties not to use glue or other rigid adhesive substances that are used in previous elections for sticking banners and slogans on walls and columns across streets. “You do not get tired using rigid materials for sticking placards and posters, but we get exhausted removing them,” a banner read.
Speaking about the Iraqi General Parliamentary Elections campaign, Zardasht Namiq, spokesperson of Slemani Municipality, told KNNC that they have disseminated their recommendations and guidance that sticking posters and placards using solid glues are forbidden.
Iraqi General Parliamentary Elections are to be held on 30/4/2014 and the election campaign will start on 1/4/2014. Namiq, expressing his discomfort, said, “in the September 2013 parliamentary elections, the parties used solid glues and it was a hideous act.” “Slemani Municipality taxed the political parties 180 million Iraqi Dinars where Gorran Movement and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) had the highest rate of violation in September 2013 election,” Namiq confirmed. Namiq added: “we ask all the political parties to cooperate with us and do not use rigid glues or at least use substances that can be removed easily”.
