PKK Official Reveals Iraqi Airforce Coordinated Turkish Strike Which Killed Leader in Sinjar

BASNEWS –  25/08/2018 – 14:05 ERBIL — An official for the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in Sinjar has revealed that two helicopters of the Iraqi airforce had been surveying the area on 15th August when the Turkish warplanes killed PKK leader Zaki Shingali.

Harbo Khidir, a co-leader for the PKK-affiliated Sinjar governing council, said in a televised interview that he was driving in a separate vehicle behind Zaki Shingali during the time of the airstrike. He explained that the PKK leader was injured as the result of the first strike, and then transferred to another vehicle which was targeted for the second time.

According to Khidir, they passed through two Iraqi checkpoints prior to the airstrike and there were two Iraqi helicopters flying over the region.

He accused the Iraqi government for coordinating the Turkish airstrike against the PKK leader, saying that it was possible that the attack was discussed and agreed upon in the meeting between Haider al-Abadi and Erdogan a day before the airstrike.
