SOUTH KURDISTAN (IRAQ) MESOP REPORT : Decisive meeting between KDP & PUK in Erbil

20 April 2014 – Shafaq News / A meeting of a delegation of Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) started in the capital of Kurdistan region, Erbil to discuss the formation of the Kurdish new government ..

“The meeting is important and decisive and will be held under the chairmanship of Barzani and Barham Saleh and will discuss the issue of PUK positions in the government,” A Kurdish source told “Shafaq News “.

KDP that topped the elections and nominated current Prime Minister, Nechirvan Barzani has reached to an agreement to form the next government with the major parties to enter the next formation of the government; Change Movement and the Islamic Group . The agreement with the parties came in one day as an index to speed up the pace of the birth of the government before the Iraqi parliamentary elections and local provincial elections in Kurdistan on 30 of current April. PUK said following the recent agreement that all possibilities are open towards the formation of Kurdistan Regional Government . The parliamentary elections were held in Kurdistan Region on 25 of last September won by Kurdistan Democratic Party with 38 seats out of 111, Change 24 seats and Patriotic Union of Kurdistan won 18 seats.
