SOUTH KURDISTAN (IRAQ) Barzani Asks Germany for Further Supports / Berlin willing to support KRG in a wider range / German delegation meeting President Barzani

Basnews – 17.07.2015 – ERBIL – In a farewell meeting, the German Consul General to Erbil Dieter Lamlé expressed his country’s willingness to expand relations with Kurdistan region.

On Wednesday 15th July, Kurdistan Region President Massoud Barzani received the German Consul General Dieter Lamlé in Pirmam and a German delegation.Lamlé outlined his countries support to the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) and declared that, alongside with military and humanitarian supports, Berlin government is ready to develop its relations with KRG in different sectors. President Barzani thanked the German government for their affective military supports in the fight against Islamic State (IS) militants. He asked Germany to assist Kurdistan region in improving its infrastructure, industry and agriculture sectors. President Barzani also expressed his condolences for loss of the German politician Philipp Missfelder who was “a friend of Kurds”. Dieter Lamlé served as the German Consul General in Erbil since January 2015. Since the beginning of IS war in Iraq in mid-2014, Germany has provided Kurdistan region with noticeable arms and military equipment which enabled the Peshmerga forces to stop and drive the jihadists back from Kurdish areas in northern Iraq.
