PUK NOW WITHOUT HERO TALABANI IN LEADING POSITION

2.10.2013 – SLÊMANÎ, Kurdistan region ‘Iraq’:  Iraq’s First Lady Hêro Ahmed Ibrahim Talabani, also a leader within the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan PUK party, has relinquished her post as head of the party’s main bureau in Sulaimaniyah, following the PUK’s poor showing in last month’s parliamentary elections.

Hêro Ibrahim Ahmed, who is known as Hero Khan, member of PUK Political Bureau was the head of PUK Sulaimaniyah Center for about four years.Ms. Hero has announced in a press statement that she will quit from that position on Monday, September 30, 2013.

She has said that “PUK needs to make some changes in its organs, and this I want to be the first change among them.”

“I apologize for not being able to serve you as needed or be your source of hope,” she said in a statement Monday, published on the bureau’s website.“I tried hard to undo some of the injustices, particularly property ownership issues, public services, workers, employees, students and other sections of society,” Ahmed said in the statement, and reported by Rudaw.Ms. Hero said that she left her post to rejoin the party’s political bureau.

1. The Central Council of PUK deeply analyses the results of the elections and seriously investigates to find the reasons that PUK has not gotten a good number in the elections. Then we will work hard for solving the problems.

2. The Central Council urgently asks the Political Bureau of PUK to make important changes in the PUK organs, and for this, the Leadership Council should as soon as possible hold a meeting with the Central Council for discussing this matter.

3. The Central Council asks PUK Political Bureau to hold a consultation preparing itself for the next conference of the party.
