Papers mixed in Syria, Iran’s actions, Turkey’s movements behind region’s crises
MESOPOTAMIA NEWS : SYRIA UPDATE BY ARAB PAPERS
The US announcement to withdraw from Syria caused mixing the papers of the various external actors in the Syrian conflict. This applies to Russia, Turkey and Iran, but the statements issued here and there point to the beginning of a new phase of the Syrian crisis, and stressed that the actions of Iran and Turkey’s moves behind the crises of the region.
25 Feb 2019, Mon – 10:46 – ANAH HAWAR NEWS – On Monday morning, the Arab newspapers touched upon the announcement of Russia the possibility of deploying military police on the border between Syria and Turkey in the area which they call the buffer zone.
Al-Hayat: Moscow offered the deployment of Russian military police in the buffer zone between Turkey and Syria
“A few days after Washington confirmed that 200 soldiers had been kept in northeastern Syria as a peacekeeping force, and asked the European allies to support the move, Moscow offered to deploy elements of the Russian military police in the “buffer zone” on the border between Syria and Turkey, benefiting from previous experiences in the De-escalation zones in response to the Russian offer. To respond to the Russian offer, a command source in the Syrian Democratic Council said that the offer was “very late”, stressing that “an international peacekeeping force is safer for the region.”
“The Russian minister stressed that the issue of the border between Syria and Turkey was discussed at the recent Sochi summit, as well as “Ankara’s concern about the use of the border by extremist terrorist elements, but Lavrov noted that there is no Russian-Turkish consensus and a common understanding of any of the Kurds (Terrorists). Turkey has an exceptional position, and we understand its concern.
Al-Bayan: Iran and Turkey behind the region’s crises
On another subject, Al-Bayan newspaper said, “Saudi Arabia and Egypt have demanded a unified international position towards Iran’s interventions in the region, as well as to act strictly to combat terrorism, stop funding it and take deterrent actions against the states that finance and facilitate its activities, stressing that Iran’s actions and Turkey’s movements are behind the crises in the area. The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdul Aziz confirmed his country’s commitment to support the political solution in Yemen according to reference in front of the Arab-European summit which started with the participation of 50 countries in the Egyptian city of Sharm al-Sheikh yesterday, and the UAE delegation was led by the Highness Sheikh Hamad Bin Mohammed al-Sharqi, a member of the Supreme Council and the ruler of al-Fujairah.”
