Ongoing Tensions Yekiti & PYD Media

There are ongoing tensions between the media sympathetic to the Democratic Union Party (PYD) and the Kurdish Unity party (Yekiti) led by Ibrahim Pirro. The YPG have accused Yekiti of distorting the facts over events in Derbisiye and Xeber24/Ronahi have criticized leaders of the KNC/Yekiti. In the meanwhile, Yekiti media accuses Ronahi and Xeber24 of distorting the facts too. Yekiti doesn’t support the PYD plan for a Kurdish transitional government, while pro-PYD media has accused the political group of having ‘ties to mercenaries’ and armed groups fighting against Kurds. Ties were improving in June after some meetings between the PYD and Yekiti (and meetings in Slemani). But relations broke down after the events in Amuda on 28 June in which also a Yekiti-member was killed.
