Öcalan writes letter to Barzani


 – ANF – ISTANBUL 25.01.2014 – In a statement to reporters following today’s visit to Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan in İmralı prison, Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) co-chair Sırrı Süreyya Önder and Amed deputy Leyla Zana said that they had handled the ongoing resolution process, relations with Federal Kurdistan region and Rojava and Kurdish National Congress.

According to the statement by Önder and Zana, Öcalan stated that the resolution process in Turkey cannot be treated independently from the developments in Rojava region. Zana and Önder noted that Öcalan has written a letter to Federal Kurdistan Region leader Massoud Barzani, and that the letter has been submitted to authorities for delivery to Kurdish politicians.

“After receiving the letter, we will go to Federal Kurdistan Region where we will hold talks with the parties of the Kurdish National Congress. Öcalan underlined that the current process was too important to be sacrificed to election plans, Zana and Önder said and quoted the Kurdish leader as saying that; “The process will sustain a great harm should the Turkish government display carelessness.”

Zana and Önder added that Öcalan also put emphasis on the necessity of meetings with further political delegations.
