More than 400 Kurds are fighting for IS: ministry
8-9-2014 – MESOP – Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Ministry of Endowments said there are more than 400 Kurds that are fighting for the militants of the Islamic State (IS).
The ministry’s Press Chief Mariwan Naqshbandi told al-Sumeriya news that there were some 450 Kurdish citizens in the radical group, but now there are some 400 persons as about 50 Kurdish members of the group have left the party and returned the region and now are under arrest. Reports leaked to the media days ago that the jihadist group has executed a number of its Kurdish forces on the pretext of espionage.
