Putin and Netanyahu to Meet for Syria Talks – Basnews English 19/02/2019 –

ERBIL — Russian President Vladimir Putin and Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will meet this week to discuss the Syrian crisis, the Kremlin confirmed on Tuesday.

The two leaders will meet on 21 February in Moscow, according to a statement by the Kremlin. They will also discuss the recent developments across the Middle East.

The talks come amid fierce clashes in eastern Syria by the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) to liberate the last pockets from IS.

However, the country remains torn after eight years of civil war and terror crisis.

Russia supports the Bashar al-Assad’s regime to regain power over the entire country. However, since the Syrian regime is under the hegemony of Iran, Israel, so far, opposes Assad’s rule.
