Against US Sanctions, Iraqi Shi’ite Leader Sends Billions of Dollars to Tehran

Basnews English – 07/11/2018 – 16:11 – ERBIL — Deputy Chairman of Iraqi Shi’ite Hashd al-Shaabi militia, Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, is accused of transferring billions of dollars to Tehran in an attempt to help the Islamic Republic of Iran survive the US economic sanctions.

According to several sources cited by The Baghdad Post, the United States was informed about Muhadis’s move and is now working on measures against the Shi’ite leader which might result in his arrest.

According to the report, Muhandis has sent $3 billion to Tehran as the country is struggling, among other crisis, with the drastic drop of is currency’s value against the US dollar.  It is also claimed that the Iraqi Board of Integrity is aware of the cash transfers, however, BasNews could not independently verify the information.   www.mesop.de
