US to Prolong Assistance to KRG, Peshmerga

BasNews 24/11/2019 – 18:41 ERBIL – The US will prolong its assistance to the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) and the Peshmerga forces, reiterating support to cooperations between the Peshmerga fighters and Iraqi troops in the fight against terrorism.

During a visit to Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani in Erbil on Sunday, a US delegation, led by Robert Karem, the national security adviser in the US Senate, noted that Washington views Erbil as an ally in the region.

During the meeting, where the US ambassador to Iraq, Matt Tueller, was also present, the delegation further reaffirmed their country’s support to the ongoing peaceful dialogue between Erbil and Baghdad to resolve the remaining disputes between the sides.
