Russian FM to Visit Kurdistan Next Month: Report

BasNews 09/09/2019 – 23:16 Published in Kurdistan  – ERBIL – Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov is expected to pay a visit to the Kurdistan Region next month, where he will meet with senior Kurdish officials, a report revealed on Monday.

Talking to Kurdistan 24, Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov noted that Lavrov, during his stay in the autonomous region, will hold meetings with Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani, Prime Minister Masrour Barzani, and President of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP, Masoud Barzani.

“We have good relations with the Kurdistan Region. Lavrov will meet with the Kurdish leaders to speak about further improving Erbil-Moscow ties in all areas,” he added.

The Russian FM has not visited the Kurdistan Region ever before, this, thus, is going to be his first official visit in the region.

According to the Russian official, Lavrov with the Kurdish leaders will discuss the bilateral relations between Erbil and Moscow and means to improve the ties between the sides.
