MESOPOTAMIA NEWS :  CORONA IN SYRIA / CRISIS UPON CRISIS

The prices rise astronomically in Deir Ezzor due to Coronavirus, and Assad regime does nothing about it!

DEIR EZZOR NEWS – 26 March 2020 –  The markets of Deir Ezzor province, in the areas under Assad’s forces control, have witnessed a significant increase in the prices of food and vegetables during the past few days, according to Deir Ezzor 24 network correspondent.

Our correspondent said that the price of a kilo of potatoes have risen from 200 to 900 Syrian pounds, and the price of a kilogram of onions reached 200 Syrian pounds, and tomatoes to 800 Syrian pounds.

In a related context, the owners of bakeries in Deir Ezzor started to distribute bread in a new way: by collecting it in one store in each neighborhood at first, then distributing just one bag of bread for each family, at a price of 200 pounds per bag, while the bag of bread is not enough for even a small family.

In the same context, our correspondent said, the National Defense Militia has been gathering numbers of people from Deir Ezzor city, taking them to the badiyah to collect truffles, and then giving them 650 Syrian pounds per each kilo of truffles of small size, and 2000 Syrian pounds for the large size.

It is noteworthy that Assad regime is deepening the economic crisis in the country under the pretext of Coronavirus eventhough just three infections have been reported so far.
