Russian Warplanes Kills 104 – I- Introduction and Methodology:

On 30 September 2015, Russian forces commenced air strikes on Syria and announced that it will target extremist Islamic groups (i.e. ISIL, An-Nusra Front, and Jund Al Aqsa group). However, their actions on the ground contradicted statements made Russian officials. It seems that these air strikes deliberately killed civilians and targeted regions that were never under the control of extremist Islamic groups.

In this report, we focus on:

a- Targeted civilian and military regions under the control of armed opposition

b- Targeted civilian regions under the control of ISIL.

Posted 2015-10-13 01:07 GMT – (Reuters) — Amnesty International on Tuesday accused a Syrian Kurdish militia supported by the United States of committing war crimes by driving out thousands of non-Kurdish civilians and demolishing their homes.

The London-based rights watchdog documented cases in more than a dozen villages in Kurdish-controlled areas where residents were forced to flee or had their homes destroyed by the YPG, or People’s Protection Units, who have seized swathes of northern Syria from Islamic State militants this year. Amnesty’s senior crisis adviser Lama Fakih said the autonomous Kurdish administration was “flouting international humanitarian law, in attacks that amount to war crimes”. 13 Ot 2015 – Al Monitor – The United States will supply arms, equipment and air support to Syrian Arab and Kurdish groups already fighting the so-called Islamic State (IS) on the ground in Syria, the White House and Pentagon announced Oct. 9.  The decision to refocus the beleaguered, $500 million Pentagon program from training and equipping a new force to fight IS in Syria to “equip and enable” rebel groups already fighting on the ground came after an interagency review of the train and equip program, US officials said. This spike in Russian military activity is a notable escalation compared to the 20 “combat sorties” flown on October 8. Most Russian airstrikes continued to concentrate in northwestern Hama province in support of a large-scale regime offensive in the area. In addition, Russian warplanes conducted numerous airstrikes in the western countryside of Aleppo against rebel and Jabhat al-Nusra positions. These airstrikes coincided with ISIS’s largest advance against rebels in northern Aleppo since August 2015, indicating that Russian airstrikes are not deterring ISIS from launching new offensives. KALAR/SULAIMANIYA – Protests around Sulaimaniya erupted into violence over the weekend, resulting in at least six deaths and fueling an escalation of the political conflict surrounding Massoud Barzani’s claim to continue functioning as president.Unarmed but violent protesters attacked around a dozen offices of the ruling Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), setting fire to at least six of them. In many cases, guards shot at protesters; at least five protesters were killed and more than 30 injured; one guard was killed and several more were injured.The incidents prompted the KDP – led by Barzani, who has continued acting as president amidst a political stalemate, after the Aug. 19 expiration of his term – to unilaterally expel the Gorran party from a nominal unity government, deepening a political crisis that now threatens to tear open old wounds that once divided eastern and western Kurdistan into warring cantons. Five ministerial posts, including that of Peshmarga, finances, religious affairs and the Investment Board will temporarily be filled by other cabinet members while new ministers are appointed for the positions in the coming weeks. The ousted ministries had been held by members of the Goran Movement whose share in the coalition government emerged after inconclusive elections in 2013. The Goran, or Change, Movement, was established in 2009 and rapidly rose to power as an opposition group, particularly in Sulaimani province. Rheinische Post: Asylbewerber-Kriminalität mehr als verdoppelt / A doubled criminality among refugees in Germany 2015

25.07.2015 – 05:00 – Düsseldorf (ots) – Der Anteil der von Asylbewerbern begangenen Straftaten an der Gesamt-Kriminalität hat sich binnen drei Jahren von 3,7 auf 7,7 Prozent mehr als verdoppelt. Das geht aus einer Auswertung des Bundeskriminalamtes hervor, die der in Düsseldorf erscheinenden “Rheinischen Post” (Samstagausgabe) vorliegt. Als Tatverdächtige ermittelte die Polizei im vergangenen Jahr 38.119 Asylbewerber gegenüber 15.932 drei Jahre zuvor. Einen starken Anstieg gab es bei den Körperverletzungen (von 3863 auf 9655) und bei den Ladendiebstählen (von 4974 auf 13.894).

“Die Politik betreibt seit Jahren Augenwischerei und lässt die Bevölkerung über die tatsächliche Kriminalitätslage im Unklaren … Anstatt den Bürgern die Wahrheit zu erzählen, werden diese für dumm verkauft”, sagt André Schulz, Vorsitzender des Bunds Deutscher Kriminalbeamter.

Der Bundesvorsitzende der Deutschen Polizeigewerkschaft sagt: “In Berlin oder im Duisburger Norden gibt es Stadtteile, in denen sich die Kollegen kaum noch trauen, ein Auto anzuhalten – weil sie wissen, dass sie dann 40 oder 50 Mann an der Backe haben.” Diese Übergriffe seien fast schon “ein gezieltes Kräftemessen mit dem Staat, in dem sich die Verachtung der Täter für unsere Gesellschaft ausdrückt”. www.mesop.de
