Newruz celebrations prohibited in Syria’s Kurdistan
- 3. 2017 – Kurdpress/Iran: The Syrian pro-Kurdish Party (PYD/PKK), which controls Kurdish regions in northern Syria, has prevented any Newruz celebrations in northern Syria.
According to Kurdistan 24, Cwan Ibrahim, the commander of Asayesh Forces, affiliated with the PYD, stated that holding any kind of Newruz celebration is prevented in all Kurdish cantons in northern Syria and all the regions that are under the control of the PYD. He noted that any kind of celebrations and fire makings are prevented. it is worth noting that Asayesh has prevented using motorcycle from March 19 to 23 in the regions under it control. www.mesop.de

Unconfirmed reports say the latest raids struck a Hezbollah convoy on the Syrian-Lebanese border. Damascus Clashes Intensify Amid Surprise Attack
Clashes continued into Monday in Damascus after rebels carried out a surprise attack by infiltrating government-controlled parts (AP) of the city through tunnels on Sunday. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a monitoring group, reported violent clashes in northeastern districts of the city (Reuters) following the attack. Last Wednesday, a suicide bombing outside the city’s main courthouse killed at least thirty-one (BBC) as a separate bombing at a restaurant injured more than twenty people. The two attacks came on the six-year anniversary of the uprising against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

PKK Steps up Pressure on Yezidi Peshmerga Families
Basnews English – 19/03/2017 – 23:23 – SINJAR — Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) has stepped up pressure on the Yezidi families whose members are working for Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), said a local official.
Head of Sinjar Mayoral Council, Wais Naif, told BasNews on Sunday the Yezidi families who are not affiliated to the PKK are being placed under pressure by the party as it hopes for expelling them out of their homes. He explained that any Yezidi families whose members are fighting alongside Kurdish Peshmerga forces are also subjected to the pressure. Hashd Al-Shaabi Composed of Over 60 Militia Groups
Most of the militia groups are backed by Iran – Hashd al-Shaabi Shi’ite, the largest militia group in Iraq, is composed of over 60 brigades and units, each of which is overseen by a faction or a leader and most of them are backed by Iran.
The documents obtained by BasNews show that Hashd al-Shaabi consists of 66 different brigades and units each of which under a name. Israel droht Syrien mit Vernichtung von Fla-Systemen
RUSSIA TODAY – 19 March 2017 – Israels Verteidigungsminister Avigdor Lieberman hat am Sonntag Syrien gedroht, dessen Flugabwehrsysteme zu vernichten, sollte die Armee von Baschar al-Assad israelische Kampfflugzeuge unter Beschuss nehmen. „Nächstes Mal, wenn die Syrer ihre Fla-Systeme gegen unsere Flugzeuge einsetzen werden, werden wir sie ohne Zögerung zerstören“, erklärte der Politiker. In der Nacht zum 17. März hatte das syrische Militärkommando mitgeteilt, ein israelisches Kampfflugzeug abgeschossen zu haben.
Nach israelischer Darstellung attackierten die Kampfjets in der Nacht zum Freitag einen Fahrzeugkonvoi, der Waffen für die Hisbollah transportierte. Die syrische Armee erklärte, dass ihre Flugabwehr einen der vier israelischen Kampfjets, die in den syrischen Luftraum eingedrungen waren, abgeschossen hätte. Das israelische Militärkommando dementierte das entschieden.
