Russia has been accused of war crimes in the UN Security Council, as another 92 people were killed amid Russian-regime bombing of Syria’s largest city Aleppo on Sunday. The Local Coordination Committees documented the deaths, which included dozens of children and women. Since Thursday, the resurgent bombing has killed about 350 people in and near Aleppo. Russia and the Assad regime renewed the attacks as soon as the Syrian military declared an end to a brief US-Russian ceasefire on Monday, beginning with an assault on a UN aid convoy west of Aleppo.
In an emergency UN Security Council session on the bombing and siege, the US, British, and French Ambassadors all pointed at Russia’s use of bunker-busting and incendiary bombs. Basnews English – 26 Sept 2016 – ERBIL — To oppose the ruling Democratic Union Party’s (PYD) campaign against the Kurdish political rivals in the Syrian Kurdistan (Rojava), members of the Syrian Kurdish National Council (ENKS) started a hunger strike in Şanlıurfa province of Turkey. – According to sources from Rojava, PYD has launched a new campaign to detain members from other parties for having different political views, and has so far arrested dozens of political figures and activists. Der Schriftsteller Navid Kermani schien einer zu sein, auf den sich alle drei Parteien einigen konnten. Der SPD-Vorsitzende Sigmar Gabriel hatte sich zu einem langen Gespräch mit ihm getroffen, Linkspartei und Grüne schienen angetan von dem Vorschlag. Dietmar Bartsch (Linkspartei) hatte Gabriel schon im Frühsommer anvertraut, dass seine Fraktion bereit stünde, wenn es der SPD gelinge, einen passenden Kandidaten aufzustellen. Doch daraus wurde nichts.
