On the contrary: Defeating IS and the horror it perpetuates requires nothing less than the elimination of its caliphate. August 11 – MESOP – Turkey’s Interior Minister Efkan Ala has confirmed that more than 76,000 State personnel have been suspended since the July 15 failed coup attempt. – Ala said in a televised interview on Wednesday: “As of now, the number of suspended personnel is nearly 76,100. There are 5,171 people who were detained and their process of detention is ongoing.” He added another 3,601 were questioned and released and 7,173 freed on condition of judicial control.Of the detained and questioned, “7,248 were soldiers, 2,288 were judges and prosecutors, 199 were local [officials” and 4,161 were civilians”, the Minister detailed. - August 2016 : Sie wollen nach Israel telefonieren? Diese Nummer gibt es hier nicht: Claude Lanzmann, Regisseur von „Shoah“, über eine verstörende Erfahrung in einem vornehmen Hotel mitten in Berlin.
Ich möchte versuchen, mit wenigen Worten Zeugnis abzulegen von einem üblen Erlebnis, dessen Zeuge und in gewisser Hinsicht auch Opfer ich in Berlin geworden bin. Zu verstehen und zu vermitteln, warum es mich aufs tiefste schockiert hat.
In Berlin befand ich mich aus Anlass der Beerdigung von Angelika Schrobsdorff, einer halbjüdischen deutschen Schriftstellerin, mit der ich zehn Jahre verheiratet war. Ich hatte, ohne mir viel dabei zu denken, ein Zimmer im Kempinski am Kurfürstendamm gebucht, das Hotel ist mir seit 1986 vertraut, ich logierte hier, als ich erstmals meinen Film „Shoah“ in Berlin vorstellte.
Was kommt vor Italien?
Vor achtundvierzig Stunden saß ich in meinem Zimmer und durchstöberte die „Gebrauchsanweisung“ des Hotels, in der die verschiedenen Dienstleistungen beschrieben werden. Zu den Unterlagen gehört die Liste mit den Vorwahlnummern für die verschiedensten Länder der Welt. Aufgeführt sind Rumänien, die Vereinigten Staaten, Thailand, Belgien, die Ukraine . . . Beim flüchtigen Überfliegen stießen meine Augen auf „Italien“, und „Italien“ löste eine reflexartige Reaktion aus. Der Name beginnt mit I – wie Israel. Volltext http://www.mesop.de/?p=76923
