More than 850 migrants are said to have breached the border with Spanish held Ceuta from Morocco. Located just South of Gibraltar, Ceuta was conquered by the Portuguese in the 15th century, before deciding to remain in the Spanish Empire in the 17th century. It is one of two Spanish cities on the Mediterranean Coast, the other one being Melilla. For Syria’s Assad, it helps if his propaganda is not only delivered by regime spokesmen but independent analysts, journalists, academics, and politicians.
From the beginning of Syria’s war, the regime of Bashar al-Assad, enabled by Iran and Russia, has run a very elaborate media war to portray itself as the victim of an international conspiracy, wherein its only opponents are terrorists from al-Qaeda and its offshoots who are being used by foreigners – namely the Gulf States, Turkey, Israel, and the United States – to overthrow a defiant “resistance” state.
The other part of this strategic messaging is aimed at the West, which Assad otherwise accuses of supporting jihadi-Salafist terrorism against him: Assad is the only alternative to the terrorists, it says, so the West should support him. War criminal he might be, he will protect the minorities – his role in endangering them by starting a sectarian war against the Sunni majority and bolstering the takfiris within the insurgency to cannibalise all legitimate or engageable armed opposition, notwithstanding – and has no immediate plans to fly planes into Western skyscrapers. February 24 – By Scott Lucas – eaworldview – Iranian support, essential for survival of Syria’s President Assad – President Hassan Rouhani has issued another proclamation of Iran’s resolve to intervene behind Syria’s Assad regime.
“Iran’s support for the Syrian people will last until ultimate victory,” Rouhani told Syrian MP Hadiya Khalaf Abbas in Tehran on Wednesday.He declared that “Iran will stand by the Syrian people against terrorism and support the…talks” between Damascus and opposition groups, which began in Geneva yesterday. Rouhani then hailed the military operations — including Russia, Hezbollah, and Iranian-led foreign militias as well as Iranian commmanders and troops — which have taken territory such as the opposition portion of Syria’s largest city Aleppo. Und es wird atemberaubender mit jedem weiteren Argumentationsschritt dieses Artikels, der geradewegs in den Abgrund führt – und damit beispielhaft für die Irrläufe eines reaktionären, vor allem im Internet heimischen Feminismus steht, der sich mit viel Hashtag- und Sprachvorschriftsgetöse als vermeintliche Speerspitze im Kampf um Gleichstellung aller Gender und Identitäten, Ethnien und Klassen geriert, tatsächlich aber Opferverachtung betreibt.
