When speaking about Syria, President Obama and his key aides have never denied the vital connection between the Assad regime’s collective punishment survival strategy—mass homicide, wholesale displacement, starvation sieges, Nazi-style penal practices, state terror—and the ability of Islamist extremists in Syria to live long and prosper. Tillerson Faces Congressional Hearing: President-elect Donald Trump’s Secretary of State nominee, Rex Tillerson, faced a Senate committee last week. During the hearing, Tillerson refused to label Saudi Arabia a human rights violator, instead telling Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL.) that efforts to apply such labels to certain regimes were short-sighted. Human Rights Watch raised “serious questions about whether [Tillerson] can effectively serve as secretary of state.” Referring to his broad view of Middle East security, Tillerson said, “When everything is a priority, nothing is a priority. Defeating ISIS must be our foremost priority in the Middle East.” Tillerson also described the Muslim Brotherhood as an “agent of radical Islam.” If confirmed, Tillerson would have the legal authority to designate Foreign Terrorist Organizations in accordance with section 219 of the Immigration and Nationality Act. Iran Daily: Tehran & Russia Confer on Their Message to Syria’s Assad
January 17 – MESOP – Iran and Russia held further discussions on Monday about their line for forthcoming political talks on Syria’s crisis, including their message to the Assad regime.Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif spoke by phone with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov about the proposed discussions between the regime and the Syrian opposition and rebels, scheduled for January 23 in Kazakhstan’s capital Astana. Later, the head of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, Ali Shamkhani, spoke with his Russian counterpart Nikolai Patrushev.
On Tuesday, Syrian Prime Minister Imad Khamis will be hosted by senior Iranian officials in Tehran.Since last Thursday, Iran has negotiated the details of the Astana talks with its brokers, Russia and Turkey. President Hassan Rouhani spoke with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on Thursday. Deputy Foreign Minister Hossein Jaberi Ansari met Turkish and Russian counterparts on Friday, and communicated the outcome to Syrian Deputy Foreign Minister Faisal al-Miqdad on Saturday. Russia and Turkey, formerly on opposite sides of the Syrian conflict, have reconciled to pursue a deal over Aleppo city and Aleppo Province, a nominal ceasefire, and the proposed regime-opposition talks. Iran, along with Russia the essential backer of the Assad regime since 2011, has been more sceptical of the talks. Tehran has insisted that Bashar al-Assad’s future is a “red line” that must not be crossed, despite the opposition’s insistence that the President step aside in any agreement. Leyla Hemid – BasNews – 17/01/2017 – 20:46 – ERBIL – A wide campaign of forcibly recruiting Kurdish youth of northern Syria in the ranks of Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD) has been initiated by the party, an official from an opposition coalition said on Tuesday.
Kawa Azizi, a member of the Leadership Board of Kurdish National Council of Syria (KNCS) told BasNews that youth from across the Western Kurdistan (Kurdish part of Syria), especially from the city of Qamishlo “are arrested” to conduct compulsory military service. (ret.) Michael Hayden rejected a recent report that Obama administration intelligence officials told Israeli officials to be wary of sharing intelligence with the incoming Trump administration.
In a Monday interview with The Jerusalem Post, Hayden addressed a January 12 report by Yediot Aharonot intelligence reporter Ronen Bergman that on a recent unspecified date, US intelligence officials told Israelis to hold back on sharing intelligence until it is clear that “Trump is not inappropriately connected to Russia and is not being extorted” for “fear the information would reach the Iranians” through Russia. … alles gestern aufgeschreckt wie im Hühnerhof, in Medien, Politik, facebook etc.: dabei zeternd und lamentierend: 100 x dieser Satz in Variationen, gestern:
…. „Hoffentlich kommt Donald T. wieder zur Wirklichkeit zurück“. Sagen vorzugsweise jene, für die „Wirklichkeit“ ansonsten strikt als „Konstruktion“ behandelt wird. Eben dies ist auch nun das eigentlich Problem: Das jetzt ist die neue Wirklichkeit, die bleibt, und ein „Zurück über LOS“ oder ein da capo al fine gibt es nicht.
Aber nicht Trump oder Putin haben Europa zerstört, sondern Europa hat sich selber aufgegeben und führt – die EU in Brüssel – schon lange eine nur simulative Scheinexistenz. Fehlerhafte Konstitution, versagende Institutionen, gebrochene Verträge am laufenden Meter – mangelnde Innovation – verheerende Migrationspolitik. Das führte zum BREXIT! Nicht umgekehrt. Daraus entstanden Parteien und Bewegungen wie UKIP oder AfD oder die FPÖ. Nicht umgekehrt.
Verächtlichmachung + Aufgabe europäische Kultur, Absage an Aufklärung und freiheitliche Prinzipien zu Gunsten von Islamisierung und 4-Toiletten-Wirtschaft. Das hat Europa fragmentiert und gefährdet.
Die LINKE hat wieder versagt, nicht die RECHTE einfach gewonnen.
Putin und Trump werden Europa (welches bitte?) nicht „zerstören“, sondern trennen, selektieren und ausweiden. Trump ist nicht HITLER, sondern ein Kommando-Kapitalist, für den alles das richtige Politik ist, was einen vorteilhaften Deal ausmacht. Rücksichtslos. Die NATO steht da nur dysfunktional im Wege. Sie ist demnächst bei ebay für ein paar Groschen ausgeschrieben – und niemand will sie übernehmen und dafür zahlen.
Nein, nicht Trump ist Ursache, sondern die Brüsseler / Berliner Wirklichkeit führte direkt zu Trump .
Und alles jahrzehntelang geübte yankee-bashing ist nun obsolet. Manchen möchten jetzt gern contra Trump nach Moskau schauen, RECHTE wie einige LINKE. Aber da sitzt ja auch schon Trump bei Putin.
In dieses stetig und nun mit wachsemden Tempo fragmentierende Europa muß man , – damit alles viel schneller geht, – nun noch in Permanenz Millionen Migranten aufnehmen, auf deren Aufnahme niemand vorbereitet ist. Es gilt die gute Idee! Vor der hat sich bekanntlich die Wirklichkeit gefälligst zu blamieren!
Aber the party is over. Restlos. Unabänderlich. Eindeutig. Da hilft jetzt kein Jammern & kein Klagen
