Jerusalem Post, 4/11 – The Iraqi special forces have now entered the first neighborhoods of the city of Mosul. Captured by the Islamic State in the summer of 2014, the city constitutes the jewel in the crown of the Sunni jihadis’ Iraqi holdings. It may be assumed that they will fight with determination to hold it. The eventual outcome of the battle for Mosul, however, cannot be in doubt. There are around 5,000 IS fighters inside the city, facing a combined force of around 100,000. The attackers have complete control of the skies, and vastly superior weaponry.The most intriguing aspect of the Mosul campaign, however, has been the differing and often opposing agendas of the various components of the attacking force. 5 Nov 2016 – Murat Karayilan, one of the leaders of the left-wing Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), which is based in Turkey and Iraq, said that his organization intends to intensify its battle against the Turkish state.
Karayilan announced this in a video message on Friday, following the arrest of co-leaders of the pro-Kurdish Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) and 9 other HDP MPs by the Turkish authorities, with arrest warrants for two more who are currently abroad. Doubtless you will have heard the news from yesterday evening of the mass arrests of HDP MPs in Turkey. The HDP are now asking for concrete action from our democratic representatives in our country to try to avoid the bloodbath which may follow this action.
You may also be aware that AKP-backed militia are being formed in Turkey, with the mayor of Ankara in particular openly calling for this.
Our task is now to write to or to contact our MPs through their constituency offices and appeal to them to join a delegation to Diyarbakir to investigate and protest this most worrying of developments. Please see the details below and the documents attached for further information.

| 2016-11-04 10:59:51 – (Zaman Al Wasl)- Israeli food is being sold in markets of Hasaka city, that is mutually controlled by the Syrian regime and the Kurdish Democratic union Party (PYD), local sources mentioned.
ZAMAN AL-Wasl correspondent in Hasaka mentioned that no information is available about the source of that Israeli food products or how it reached to the market, whether it was imported by traders, or within the humanitarian aid provided via Iraqi Kurdistan, as the only access to Hasaka city is via the crossing point near the village of Tonisa in Malkiyah. 5 Nov 2016 – By Scott Lucas – eaworldview – Both rebels and civilians are preparing for a resumption of Russian and regime bombing of Syria’s largest city Aleppo, following the expiry of a 10-hour Russian “pause”/ultimatum on Friday.On Wednesday, Russia said rebels would have from 9 am to 7 pm yesterday to leave opposition areas of the city, going to the Turkish border or neighboring Idlib Province. Rebels rejected the initiative, and the US expressed scepticism that the declaration was just a pretext for the renewal of airstrikes that killed more than 600 civilians from mid-September to mid-October. “Nobody will leave and the Russians will escalate. US says YPG lived up to its commitments in Manbij
November 5, 2016 Syria – ARA News – The US State Department spokesperson Mark Toner said he couldn’t confirm rumours coming from the Turkish media that the US and Turkey agreed to force Kurdish fighters of the People’s Protection Units (YPG) out of Manbij city in northern Syria, but said the YPG honoured its commitments to pull out from Manbij.
“I’ve seen those reports. I don’t have anything to confirm them. It’s the first I’m hearing about any kind of effort, so I can’t confirm,” Mark Toner said. “We’ve worked with the YPG pretty extensively in northern Syria.” http://www.mesop.de/?p=79815
MESOP : PKK/PYD(YPG) LOSSES – YPG Releases Casualty Figures for October
HASAKA – 5 Nov 2016 – The Syrian Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) has confirmed that 12 of its fighters were killed during military confrontations last month.
In a press release dated November 4th, the YPG revealed that during October, it positions came under 17 Turkish attacks, 22 others by Islamic State (IS) militants and 12 offensives were carried out by the Turkish-backed rebels. According to the statement, YPG forces have seized dozens of heavy and light arms as well as military vehicles. “12 YPG fighters were killed during confrontations in October,” YPG confirmed. www.mesop.de
