MESOP MIDDLE EAST : JEWS WOULD PREFER DONALD TRUMP
US Elections – JERUSALEM POST – By LAHAV HARKOV \ 11/03/2016
Exclusive: Trump beats Clinton in Israeli absentee-voter exit poll
The total number of votes coming from Israel, 30,000, is significantly lower than voter turnout in Israel in 2012, which some say is because of the candidates running.
An Israeli soldier walks past members of the US Republican party’s election campaign team in Israel, who are holding a banner in support of Republican US presidential nominee Donald Trump, during a campaign aimed at potential American voters living in Israel, near a mall in Modi’in, Israel.. If American citizens in Israel were to choose the next president of the United States, Republican nominee Donald Trump would win the election, according to the results of an exit poll taken among absentee voters in Israel obtained exclusively by The Jerusalem Post. MESOP OPINION : TURKEY IS NOT JUST TURKEY (ERDOGAN)
Turkey’s Land-Grab Wish List – by Burak Bekdil – The Gatestone Institute – November 2, 2016
Why is Turkey’s Islamist regime reviving century-old Ottoman territorial claims?
Each time in recent history that Turkey’s pro-Sunni neo-Ottomans opted for assertive foreign policy in this turbulent part of the world, there were more casualties and no happy ending for any state- or non-state actor, including President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s Turkey. As multiple asymmetrical wars in the triangle of Turkey, Syria and Iraq turn more violent and complex, with the U.S.-led international campaign fighting jihadists — while Iran and Russia try to win proxy wars — Turkey keeps raising the stakes with the risky nonsensical wish to revive its imperial past. Erdogan looks determined to fight any war in the hope that all will end with Turkish-Sunni dominance in the region. He is wrong. Read all http://www.mesop.de/?p=79739

MESOP “ETHNIC CLEANSING” – NEW HUMAN RIGHTS WATCH REPORT – Kurdish Forces Ejecting Arabs In Kirkuk
2016-11-03 06:48 GMT – HRW – Kurdish authorities in Kirkuk, in their most recent round of displacements, have been ejecting Arab residents and Arab internally displaced people there since the Islamic State, also known as ISIS, attacked the city on October 21, 2016.
Human Rights Watch is not aware of any similar displacements affecting Kurdish residents of the city. Given that Arabs seem to be the sole victims of these demolitions and evictions, and no explanation has been given by the authorities as to why they are being so targeted, the KRG actions appear to be discriminatory. “While KRG security forces are working to protect civilians from ISIS, they should ensure that their security measures don’t endanger civilians or undermine their rights,” said Lama Fakih, deputy Middle East director. “Forcing families out of their homes and into the streets or to unsafe parts of the country is a serious violation of their rights and does nothing to strengthen Iraq’s political cohesion.” Read all http://www.mesop.de/?p=79741
MESOP “MIDDLE EAST FORUM” – RECOMMENDATION – The Ba’thification of Iraq: Saddam Hussein’s Totalitarianism
by Aaron M. Faust – Austin: University of Texas Press, 2015. 296 pp. $55. / Reviewed by Amatzia Baram – Middle East Quarterly – Fall 2016
When Baghdad fell to U.S. and allied forces in April 2003, a treasure trove of Iraqi Baath documents fell into coalition hands. Renamed the Baath Regional Command Center (BRCC) archive by its stewards, the Iraq Memory Foundation, it represents the most complete record currently available of the process of intimidation and indoctrination to which Iraqi society as well as the party members were subjected by the Baathist leadership. Faust’s book is an excellent analysis of the material he studied, which is archived at the Hoover Institution on Stanford University’s campus in Palo Alto. This archive holds some thirteen million pages of documents—eleven million of which are in Arabic. This gargantuan quantity means that one needs many lifetimes to review all the relevant documents. What Faust has uncovered, however, provides us with much food for thought. Read all http://www.mesop.de/?p=79745
WEST KURDISTAN (SYRIA)
Syria Daily: Russia Threatens Resumption of Bombing of Aleppo
UPDATE 0815 GMT: In his latest interview with foreign media, President Assad has blamed the US and the “West” for the end of a short-lived ceasefire — with Russian and regime warplanes destroying a UN convoy near Aleppo — last month. Assad told the Serbian newspaper Politika:
The West, mainly the United States,…always ask for ceasefire only when the terrorists are in a bad situation, not for the civilians. And they try to use those ceasefires in order to support the terrorists, bring them logistic support, armament, money, everything, in order to re-attack and to become stronger again. When it didn’t work, they ask the terrorists to make it fail or to start attacking again. So, who’s to blame? It’s the United States and its allies, the Western countries, because for them, terrorists and terrorism are a card they want to play on the Syrian arena….For them, supporting the terrorists is a war of attrition against Syria, against Iran, against Russia, that’s how they look at it. !KNOW BETTER WITH MESOP! – SOUTH STREAM A GERMAN/RUSSIA PROJECT TO FINANCE PUTIN’S WARFARE
The (German) Politics of Nord Stream 2 – By Judy Dempsey – Carnegie Europe
An unlikely coalition is emerging in Germany between Chancellor Angela Merkel’s conservative Christian Democrats and the opposition Greens. Increasingly, leading members of both parties want to stop the construction of a second pipeline that will transport gas directly from Russia to Germany under the Baltic Sea.
For the parliamentarians, it is politics not economics that is driving their opposition to Nord Stream 2, an additional pipeline to the original Nord Stream venture. Why, they ask, should a group of European energy companies finance a Russian project and import Russian gas that in effect pays for President Vladimir Putin’s military campaign in Syria and his meddling in Ukraine? In a lengthy analysis in the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, politicians Norbert Röttgen, a Christian Democrat who chairs the German parliament’s foreign affairs committee, and Reinhard Bütikofer, a senior German Green in the European Parliament and co-chair of the European Green Party, are quoted as saying the project should be scrapped on moral and political grounds.
