On November 11, Russia’s daily newspaper Moskovsky Komsomolets removed from its website (Mk.ru) an interview with one of the most influential and highly quoted intellectuals, Professor Valery Solovei, where Solovei predicted that Russian President Vladimir Putin “may be absent from the public spotlight for a few months or appear there very infrequently,” before the next presidential elections in 2018. Solovei is the chair of department of public relations at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (University) run by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia. UN General Assembly Should Organize Emergency Special Session
(New York) – The Russian–Syrian coalition committed war crimes during a month-long aerial bombing campaign of opposition-controlled territory in Aleppo in September and October 2016. The Violations Documentation Center, a Syrian civil monitoring organization, documented that the bombing campaign killed more than 440 civilians, including more than 90 children. Airstrikes often appeared to be recklessly indiscriminate, deliberately targeted at least one medical facility, and included the use of indiscriminate weapons such as cluster munitions and incendiary weapons. Satellite imagery that Human Rights Watch analyzed shows more than 950 new distinct impact sites consistent with the detonation of large high explosive bombs across the area during the month. December 03 – 2016 – Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov says US Secretary of State John Kerry has finally made suggestions on Aleppo that are in line with those of Moscow’s experts. Lavrov told journalists that until Friday, the US was doing its best to to “take the heat off al-Nusra”, the Jabhat Fatah al-Sham faction that Russia falsely claims dominates the rebels in Aleppo city. However, he hailed a change: Moscow is ready to immediately send our military experts and diplomats to Geneva to work out joint actions with our US colleagues in line with the American proposals, which would ensure the withdrawal of all militants without exception from eastern Aleppo, and would provide unimpeded humanitarian supplies to the city’s residents and ensure the establishment of normal life in eastern Aleppo. Where bustling factories and the din of machines once churned out bundles of yarn, only the occasional explosion of distant artillery can be heard. Khazali, who lives in Iran and is the son of Ayatollah Abu Al-Qassam Khazali, a member of both the Guardian Council and the Expediency Council, said in the video that Tehran is “bogged down in the quagmire” of Syria because of the “excessive aspirations” of Qods Force commander Soleimani, and that this has led to Iranian resources being “wasted in Syria” and to the Syrian people’s hatred of Iran. Wie das Magazin in seiner aktuellen Ausgabe berichtet, sollten von den 317 Stellen, die in diesem Jahr neu geschaffen wurden, 120 mit Kommissarsanwärtern besetzt werden. Bislang traten aber nur 62 ihre Ausbildung an, was nach Aussage des Bunds Deutscher Kriminalbeamter (BDK) vor allem am Rechtschreibtest lag.
