MESOP WEST KURDISTAN : Kurdish woman to lead KNC in Sere Kaniye, north Syria

23-04-2014 – Judi Aziz – ARA News – Qamishli, Syria– The Local Committee of the Kurdish National Council (KNC) in Sere Kaniye/Ras al-Ayn city in northeastern Syria elected Fatma al-Ali for the presidency of the KNC Local Committee, and Hassan Biro and Mohammed Haso as two executive members after holding elections with the presence of all the KNC bodies.

In a report about the achievement of the KNC in the last period, Abdul Hamid Khalil, the previous chairman of the KNC Local Committee in Sere Kaniye, pointed out to “the consistent policies of the KNC despite the existence of some deficiencies”.

Speaking to ARA News, Fatma al-Ali, the new chairwoman of the KNC Local Committee in Sere Kaniye, stated: “We will continue to work in the direction of activating the role of the KNC in the next period and will work with the spirit of one team to serve the interests of the Kurdish people.”  Notably, the majority of the Syrian Kurdish parties are part of the KNC, apart from the parties allied or associated with the People’s Council of Western Kurdistan –which the PYD constitutes its main bulwark– and which leads the self-rule administration announced last year in predominantly Kurdish areas in north and northeastern Syria. –  Reporting by: Judi Aziz – Source: ARA News
