MESOP : Watch Massud Barzani in WikiLeaks’ Saudi Arabia cables / Saudi arabia donates $500,000 to Islamic Movement in Iraqi Kurdistan

21 June 2015 – ERBIL-Hewler, milletpress / Mesop : WikiLeaks published on Friday more than 60,000 diplomatic cables from Saudi Arabia and said on its website it would release half a million more in the coming weeks. One of the document sent to Saudi Prime minister by the minister of foreign affairs which indicates that Saudi General Intelligence Presidency urging Ministry council to invite Iraq’s Kurdistan Region President Massoud Barzani.

Saudi General Intelligence Presidency indicates that inviting Barzani to Saudi Arabia to meet with PM, or Deputy PM, Minister of Interior and Minister of Foreign Affairs will be beneficial as Barzani is among those against Nuri Al-Maliki, Former Iraqi PM, policies. According to the Saudi General Intelligence Presidency Maliki was trying to change the constitution, allowing him more executive powers, which dominate Shiite control in the region. In another leaked document, Saudis donated $500,000 to Islamic Movement in Iraqi Kurdistan (Bizutnewey Islami) in January 2012.

One of the document reveals that, Saudi General Intelligence Presidency revealing information on a meeting took place between the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq represented by their leader Ammar al-Hakim and Muqtada al-Sadr, influential Iraqi Shiite cleric, which they condemn Barzani’s attitude toward Shiite government and calling on Shiite response, not to Barzani Personally but toward Kurds generally. Another leaked document about Iraqi officials, confirms strong relation between Ayad Alawi and Saudi Government.
