Mesop Update on Turkey : FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION & JOURNALISM

Trials:   Barry White confirmed he will be going to Istanbul for the odaTV trial on the first of April and he will keep us in the loop (with a report afterwards).

·         The Turkish union’s president informed us there is the KCK Diyarbakir case on the 14th of April (concerning two journalists who are still in jail: Ahmet Birsin (GünTV) and Tayip Temel (Azadiya Welat newspaper). The Turkish union (TGS) is willing to help any EFJ observer. So, is anybody interested to go and observe? Please let us know.

·         Nadezhda will be in Istanbul for the hearing of the KCK press trial, the 5th of May, as I’ve already communicated before.

·         The Danish union of Journalists is trying to increase pressure to the Danish Government by publishing a chronicle in the largest Danish newspaper, Politike. This is called: “Denmark fails Füsun Erdogan”. See attached.
