MESOP : UNCLEAR FUTURE / Turkey’s nationalist MHP says too soon to consider coalition role
Hurriyet – ISTANBUL – 7 June 2015 – The deputy chairman of Turkey’s opposition Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) said June 7 it was too early for him to say whether it would consider forming a coalition government with the ruling Justice and Devleopment Party (AKP). Partial results from a parliamentary election on June 7 showed the AKP may be forced to form either a minority government or a coalition. The MHP has long been seen as its most likely potential partner. “It would be wrong for me to make an assessment about a coalition, our party will assess that in the coming period. I think the AK Party will be making its own new evaluations after this outcome,” MHP deputy leader Oktay Vural told Reuters.
The MHP won 16.4 percent of the votes according to initial results, remaining as the second largest opposition party at the parliament. The party incresaed its votes from 13 percent as its seats increased to estimatedly 83 from 53. http://www.hurriyetdailynews.com/turkeys-nationalist-mhp-says-too-soon-to-consider-coalition-role.aspx?pageID=238&nID=83628&NewsCatID=338
