Turkish PM says PKK wants to resume talks but Ankara will not negotiate

9 June 2016 – RUDAW – Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim says that the Turkish government will not negotiate with the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) despite messages from the group that it wants to resume the peace talks.

“We receive messages from close people to the separatists that PKK wants to negotiate with us and in return lay down their arms but there is no way we will negotiate with them,” Yildirim told reporters following a dinner gathering with parliamentarians from his Justice and Development Party (AKP). In a speech to his party members Yildirim “asked the Turkish opposition parties to support the AKP to redraft the constitution and accept the presidential system in order for Turkey to develop more and keep up with world developments,” The Turkish prime minister held the PKK responsible for recent bombings across Turkey, including two attacks on the police this week in Midyat and Istanbul, saying, “PKK is responsible for both explosions, fighting PKK and other terrorist organizations strongly is the priority of the 65th cabinet,”. www.mesop.de
