Oecalan’s Brother Fears Kidnap by Turkish Authorities / I’m accused of killing Turkish soldiers, says Osman Öcalan
Basnews | Karzan Sabah Hawrami – 17.03.2015 – ERBIL – The Turkish Justice Ministry has asked the court in Diyarbakir to open a case against Osman Öcalan, the brother of the jailed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) leader Abdullah Öcalan.
In a statement to BasNews, Öcalan said that a Turkish court has ordered his arrest and return to Turkey. “This decision has been made by the ruling AKP party. I believe it is related to the election, and the AKP wants to secure the votes of Turkish nationalists,” he said. He went on, “They have made accusations against me. I was a leader of the PKK guerrillas from the formation of the group, and they claim that I was responsible for killing a number of Turkish soldiers.” “Many people are involved in making such a decision. To take me back to Turkey they will have to resort to kidnap or something similar,” added Öcalan. He left the PKK in 2004 due to a difference of opinion with other PKK leaders Cemil Bayik and Morad Qarailan. He now lives in Koya, in the Erbil province of the Kurdistan Region.
