22 Jan 2015 – Erbil-Tehran close tie benefits Iraqi Kurds: analyst
A Kurdish analyst from the University of Sulaimaniya stressed on close ties between Erbil and Tehran and said Kurdistan Region’s better ties with the Islamic Republic of Iran would benefit Iraqi Kurds. Politics Professor Dr. Rebwar Karim told Bas analytical-news base that Kurdistan Region needs better ties with the neighboring countries and those that play a big role on the region’s developments and Iran’s role, the same as Turkey’s, is important and not ignorable.
Whenever Kurds have had better ties with Iran they have benefited but has had problems in case of not a good tie with Iran, he added. Karim pointed to good ties between Iran and Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), led by Kurdistan Region President Massoud Barzani, and said the KDP is the most powerful party I the region and its close relation with Iran means better Erbil-Tehran tie.He further added Iran-Iraqi Kurds between ties would improve relation between the US and Iran and Washington is not worried about more KDP-Iran tie.
