Kurdish Official: Kurds Should Choose Iran over US / We have religious parallels with Iranians, PUK senior leader says

Basnews | ‌Herman Xalid – 5.07.2015 – SULIAMANI – A senior official from the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) says that Iran has the right to take a supporting role in the Kurdistan Region as Kurds have religious parallels with Iranians.

Adil Murad, a PUK founder, recently posted on social media that “some Kurds feel closer to the US rather than Iran”. He called it “a disaster”. Murad writes, “If the Kurds look into history, they will find out that the West has never acted in their interests.”Murad says, “How is the US eligible to cross continents and meddle in our affairs, but Iran, our neighbour, is not allowed to support us?” Encouraging Kurds to choose Iran over the US, he said that the cultural and religious parallels between Kurds and Iranians gives the Iranian government priority to intervene in the Kurdistan Region. www.mesop.de
