Pentagon spokesperson Captain Jeff Davis said that ten people were killed in an attack on February 3, and a day later Abu Hani al-Misri, who had close ties to the murdered leader of al-Qaeda Osama bin Laden, was neutralized in an airstrike. Masri is said to have set up and run al-Qaeda training camps in Afghanistan during the 1980s and 1990s.Al-Misri was also close to the current al-Qaeda leader Ayman al Zawahiri who became the leader of the organization after bin Laden was killed by the US forces in 2011 in Pakistan.”These strikes disrupt al-Qaeda’s ability to plot and direct external attacks targeting the US and our interests worldwide,” said Davis.
