MESOP : THE PYD/PKK AS AN IRANIAN-SYRIAN PROJECT KDP-S Aims to Replace PYD When Syrian Regime Falls – Syrian Kurds flee to Europe to avoid PYD Compulsory Military Service: KDP-S official
Basnews | Isa Abdulqahar – 15.09.2015 14:16 – ERBIL – A Kurdistan Democratic Party of Syria (KDP-S) politburo member says that imposing obligatory military service in Syrian Kurdistan has exacerbated a poor situation where people are already struggling with a lack of food and basics. In an exclusive interview with BasNews, Faisal Ismail claimed that the Democratic Union Party (PYD) is forcing not only youths, but also those in their 30s and 40s to join military units. This, he believes, is the reason for Syrian Kurds leaving the country.
Faisal pointed out that the KDP-S is preparing its Peshmerga forces to replace the PYD once the Syrian regime falls. “The PYD has failed in administrating Syrian Kurdistan, but they are supported by the Syrian regime’s air force and we cannot replace them at the moment”, he added. He claimed that the PYD is a “Syrian-Iranian” project in the region, which negatively affects civilians.
“About 8,000 youths have voluntarily joined the Syrian Peshmerga forces because they are not pleased with the PYD administration in Syrian Kurdistan.”Regarding the migration crisis, Faisal said that the Syrian Kurds are heading to Europe because they have no hope of finding a decent life at home. “We attempted to provide food and basics through the Barzani Charity Foundation, but the PYD prevented our support getting through,” he claimed.
