NORTH KURDISTAN (TURKEY) – Turkey should allow KCK leaders meet Ocalan: Mustafa Karasu

5 March 2015 – Kurdpress – A member of the Kurds’ Communities Congress (KCK) leading council, Mustafa Karasu said the Turkish government in Ankara should allow the leaders of the organization to meet the jailed leader of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), Abdullah Ocalan. He said Ankara claims that there is tension between Ocalan and the KCK leaders and that it is serious in bringing an end to Kurdish conflict in the state, but I wonder why it does not allow the KCK leaders to meet Ocalan to end their disputes within the peace process.

He added that is Ankara really believes in tension between the KCK and Ocalan, it should allow the KCK authorities to meet Ocalan in Imrali Prison. He went on to say that the problem is not arming or disarming of the PKK as the real problem is removing hurdles on the peace process, adding that the ball is in Turkey’s court to see whether it would fulfill the 10-article package offered in the recent joint statement or not. The issue is quite important for us and as long as the steps are not taken there would be no PKK disarming, he said, continuing that the PKK disarming conference is to be held in spring and it is in the conference that the exact date of the PKK disarming is set.
