MESOP : THE OCCUPATION TENDENCY OF PKK IN SOUTH KURDISTAN – IRAQ

PKK: We Are Not Guests in Iraqi Kurdistan / We can stay in all parts of Kurdistan, Damhat Agid says

Basnews – 09.07.2015 – QANDIL – The Group of Communities in Kurdistan (KCK) has said that the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) does not consider itself a guest in Iraqi Kurdistan as it is a Kurdish party. Head of KCK Foreign Relations Damhat Agid stressed that the PKK is not a guest in the Kurdistan Region, and they are entitled to stay in any of the four regions of Kurdistan.

“We are a Kurdish force which fights to protect Kurdistan,” Agid said. He claimed that the PKK’s agenda is to serve the unity of Kurds and they don’t harm any Kurdish parties’ interests. However, the Kurdistan Democratic Union Party (PYD), which is known for its close ties with PKK, has previously asked political parties of Iraqi Kurdistan region “not to intervene in Syrian Kurdistan affairs.”Earlier this month, Chancellor of the Kurdistan Security Council Masrour Barzani pointed out that PKK is a “guest” in the Kurdistan Region and they should pull out of Qandil in order to further the peace process in Turkish Kurdistan. Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Prime Minister Nerchivan Barzani reiterated the position in an 8th July press conference in Erbil.
