MESOP : THE BRITS PRO BAGHDAD – Britain calls on KRG to improve its relations with the Federal Government
Sunday, 22 June 2014 10:15 – Shafaq News / Britain called Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) to improve its relations with the federal government in Baghdad, warning that the differences will affect the future of the region.
British consulate in Kurdistan organized a ceremony on Saturday evening on the occasion of the birthday of Queen Elizabeth II, attended by Chairman of the Presidium of the region, Fouad Hussein, Deputy Prime Minister , Qobad Talabani , a number of regional government ministers and businessmen, investors and journalists. The British Consul , Hugh Evans said in the celebration which was attended by “Shafaq News” that “ he hopes to see the Republic of Kurdistan soon, pointing out that all differences anywhere in the country will not only affect Iraq, but will affect the future of Kurdistan Region and will also impact on the gains made in region. He noted that Britain is trying to help the region to resume relations, indicating that it will take into consideration the relationships of all parties.Evans confirmed that the region before being independent should begin a dialogue with the government in Baghdad, adding that the policy of the British government emphasis on the existence of relations between Kurdistan Region and Iraq, and emphasis on internal political stability and security of the country.
He praised the role of Kurdistan Region in receiving displaced people coming from Mosul, Tikrit and Diyala to escape ISIL gunmen , adding that Britain is the first country to set aside $ 8 million for displaced people coming to Kurdistan. He pointed out that (Britain) is cooperating with the United Nations, where a big team came from Britain to provide assistance and support in this area. On the economic side, Evans pointed out that his government is seeking to strengthen its relationship with the region, pointing out that the British government sent a large delegation of several companies operating in the oil field services at the request of the Minister of Natural Resources , Ashti Hawrami
