MESOP STATEMENTS : SALIH MUSLIM STEPS BACK FROM HIS IRAN ACCUSATIONS

Accusations against foreign countries by Kurds over Kobani

Salih Muslim denies accusing Iran of backing ISIS fighters The co-leader of Syria pro-Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD) Salih Muslim denied he had accused the Islamic Republic of Iran of backing the jihadist forces of the Islamic State of Iraq and Sham (ISIS) that are fighting against the Kurds in Syria Kurdish regions. “I have not said that Iran is backing the ISIS. All are well aware that Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Qatar and recently Syrian President Bashar al-Assad have given weapons, including tanks, to them (the jihadists),” Muslim told Kurdpress on phone today, denying recent reports quoting him that he has accused Tehran government of backing the extremist forces. Recent reports quoted Salih during a speech at a Newroz ceremony in Dusseldorf, as saying Iran, Turkey and Syria have been working against the Kurds of Syria by helping the ISIS.

PYD’s Asya Abdullah”:

then criticized groups who claim to be on the side of the peoples of Syria and freedom, but who fail to live up to such claims in practice. She also drew attention the role that foreign powers were playing in the fighting, saying “where are the gangs in Syria coming from? When you look at the ID’s of those fighting against Rojava you find Egyptians, Tunisians, Afghans, Chechens and many other country’s nationals as well. How did they come here? How did they cross the border, and with what goal are they fighting against Rojava Kurdistan? It has been ascertained that the fingerprints of many foreign powers can be found on these attacks. The fingerprints of many different powers are on the fighting in Syria. Saudi Arabia, which until today and openly supported these forces, declared these forces to be terrorists in their latest statement. Well then why did you support them until now? Because these forces did not achieve any results. Their plans remained unresolved. Surrounding countries and in particular Turkey continue to support these forces. But we believe that this policy will not achieve its goal.”

The call began: “The attacks being made against the Kurdish people who struggling for a democratic life and their freedom is not only the concern of these forces. Because it is an attack against one of the most downtrodden people in the Middle East, and an attack against a people who have shown no animosity for any other people or political force. For this reason an attack on this level is without a doubt of foreign origins. The Syrian regime – together with the states of Turkey and Iran which cannot bring themselves to solve the Kurdish issue and the issue of democratization and which cannot tolerate the national democratic gains of the Kurdish people and the other peoples in Rojava – are behind these attacks. The Turkish state, which is a principal enemy of the Kurds, is provoking these attacks. By now it has become very clear that the assailants are subcontractors of Turkey.
