MESOP SHORT CUTS : After Iraqi Warning, IS Militants Imposes State of Emergency in Mosul

Sale of radio in Mosul banned – Basnews | Hazhar Mamuzini – 04.07.2015 16:50 – MOSUL – The Islamic State (IS) militants have implemented a state of emergency in Mosul on Saturday 4th July, following a leafleting campaign by Iraqi military jets.

Saed Mamuzini, Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) official from Mosul, told BasNews that in response to the Iraqi Defence Ministry’s latest action which warns Mosul residents to stay away from IS gatherings and stand by for further information on the operation to liberate Mosul, the jihadists are taking desperate measures to control the situation.Mamuzini explained, “IS insurgents are present in every neighbourhood of Mosul to collect the leaflets; they have also arrested a number of people while they were reading the message.”He pointed out that IS is very concerned about a civilian uprising. “They have also warned shop owners not to sell radios and have been confiscating any that they see.” According to the leaflets, a new radio station, “al-Mosul FM” will be broadcasting soon to give details about the operation to liberate the city.
