MESOP : Shingal will be released within days: official tells Kurdpress

12-10-2014 – A member of Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) said the Kurdish forces of Peshmerga are close to Shingal and the captured city, under the control of the Islamic State (IS) militants, will be released in days.

PUK Mosul office chief and Spokesman Ghayas Surchi told Kurdpress that Peshmerga forces are not advancing in any fronts and clashes have dwindled down and the reality proves the IS has grown weaker. He went on to say that Peshmerga forces are on high alert in Rabiya and Zumar regions to release Shingal on the upcoming days, reiterating that planting bombs in buildings, bridges and alleys proves the group intends to flee from the city the militants captures on August 3 when hundreds of people were killed and thousands of others were displaced.
